Even if you get highlights, the stylist will most likely have to use bleach on it, anything less powerful will not lighten it up enough if it's been dyed dark brown (gray hair is also more stubborn). It is easier on your hair to get highlights because you can go back less often. The roots and the rest of your hair blend together better. Go to a hairdresser and ask if it will turn a different color. Highlighting would be a good idea, but honestly all natural gray isn't bad either.
