What can be done to get the yellow out of gray hair?

My mom's hair is yellow due to years of coloring. She wants to let it go to all white but doesn't want t have roots. She also doesn't want to go back to the salon. What can I do for her at home?What can be done to get the yellow out of gray hair?

If she doesn't mind using a color, go to your local supply shop and purchase a semi-permenant color with a purple undertone. The purple will cancel out the yellow. You will also have to purchase a processing solution to mix with the color. If she doesn't want a color, she can use a color-rinse with a purple undertone, which you can also find at your local supply shop. If you are confused when you go in, just ask the people that work there for help! If you purchase the color, just make sure you do not leave it on for too long because since she is gray, her hair will start pulling purple if left on for too long. Good luck!
Go to sally's and get 20 volume developer. (thats what you mix color with.) Mix in a bowl half of developer and half conditioner. (enough to put all over hair) mix them together then put on hair. Leave it on your hair for about 10 min and the yellow should be totally gone from hair.
