How do you change colored dark brown hair to a color that goes more with gray hair? I am 50 years old?

I have used dark brown color for several years and I know my roots are more than 50% gray. Do I need to strip my hair to get a color that blends better with the roots? I want to go lighter, but not a red tone. How do you change colored dark brown hair to a color that goes more with gray hair? I am 50 years old?
just go light brown, but you might need a professionals help. How do you change colored dark brown hair to a color that goes more with gray hair? I am 50 years old?
As you get older, it is better to go lighter. Try a lighter brown or even a blonde when you recolor :)

I recommend seeing your stylist to find a perfect match for your skin tone and eye color and who can safely take out your current color without damaging your hair. You could try ColorOpps which removes permanent hair color safely at home. You can find it Walgreens or walgreens.com.
The Lo-real coloring products work very well.

I'd go for those: they are on the light end of the spectrum though, but they have a gorgeous, vibrant red.Tad expensive but honestly worth all the years it can take of your appearance.
I would make an appointment with a beauty shop. They can match your skin tones also to what color would look great. Your coloring does change with age so lighter shade would look better, it would not be such a drastic change to look great. Good luck.
bleach your hair, then go to a lighter blonde color, but make sure to have your hairstylist do this for you. good luck!
