What does it mean when you have gray hair at a young age?

Young as in young teen. Just a few, not overloading. Does it mean stress? What does it mean when you have gray hair at a young age?
Each hair on our heads is made up of two parts:

a shaft - the colored part we see growing out of our heads

a root - the bottom part, which keeps the hair anchored under the scalp

The root of every strand of hair is surrounded by a tube of tissue under the skin that is called the hair follicle (say: fah-lih-kul). Each hair follicle contains a certain number of pigment cells. These pigment cells continuously produce a chemical called melanin (say: meh-luh-nin) that gives the growing shaft of hair its color of brown, blonde, red, and anything in between.

Melanin is the same stuff that makes our skin's color fair or darker. It also helps determine whether a person will burn or tan in the sun. The dark or light color of someone's hair depends on how much melanin each hair contains.

As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color - like gray, silver, or white - as it grows. As people continue to get older, fewer pigment cells will be around to produce melanin. Eventually, the hair will look completely gray.

People can get gray hair at any age. Some people go gray at a young age - as early as when they are in high school or college - whereas others may be in their 30s or 40s before they see that first gray hair. How early we get gray hair is determined by our genes. This means that most of us will start having gray hairs around the same age that our parents or grandparents first did. What does it mean when you have gray hair at a young age?
its your jeans... lol... oh i kill myself
Means you're wise beyond your years.
More than likely, it's hereditary.
I think you hair falls out from stress early gray hairs are genetics.
grey hair is attributed to a number of things,, number one being genetics... stress can play a part though, as my own father went completely white within six months after losing both his parents,,, so its not an old wives tale or urban legend... My own grandmother started going grey at 15,, so who knows the real reason,, dont worry though,, ask your parents or grandparents if they were prematurely grey,, most people wont admit it and colour it..lol....
Genetics. Aren't they just peachy?
If you got gray hairs it may be stress but then again its hereditary...so don't worry, but you may will want to color your hair a little if you don't want them.
my friend's dad had gray hairs in 6th grade he was like 12!!
Silver/gray genes, my lady.
Genetics thats all.
your probably stressing over alot of stuff juss take some time and relax more often
yes it means stress...My late grandmother also had said that it could mean that the person will be lucky when they get older...financially. Don't know if that is true or not, but I have discovered coincidences with some I know...
I think its stress. Just tan by the beach or a pool. read as well i mean i get stressed sometimes and thats what i do and i just come down and relax then i feel SOOO much better. I have to say it helps me at least a LOT!!

No. It means you have early grey hair genes. Not a thing you can do about it and there's not a thing you can do to cause it, either.
genitics aren't they wonderful!
it means you dyed your hair?
most likely
IT MEANS U ARE VERY STRESSED AND NEED TO RELAX.!
It means ts genetic.
genetics
Grey hair is hereditary. It might mean stress, but it could mean other things. When a person gets scared, like deathly scared, it can actually turn some of their hair grey, right that moment. How much of it turns grey, depends how scared you've gotten. So if you've seen something extremely scary in the past couple months that could also have been the cause.
I have had a spot on the back of my head with about 12 gray hairs eversince i was a child. Its a sign of wizdom.Atleast thats what I have been told. I'm not very smart.
